INFORMATIONAL AND PRACTICAL SEMINAR
On December 23, 2024, an informational and practical seminar was held at the “Archabil” Hotel, organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the 1949 Geneva Conventions. The seminar focused on the theme: “Issues of the Development and Implementation of International Humanitarian Law.”
Representatives from the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, higher educational institutions, scientific organizations, law enforcement agencies, the National Society of the Red Crescent of Turkmenistan, and public organizations participated in the seminar.
The discussions at the seminar highlited around the development and successful implementation of a comprehensive program aimed at the wide dissemination, promotion, and adaptation of the fundamental norms of international humanitarian law in accordance with Turkmenistan’s commitments. Additionally, issues concerning the integration of international humanitarian law norms into national legislation were addressed.
As part of the program’s activities, the outcomes of the meetings of Turkmenistan’s Interdepartmental Commission on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law were reviewed, along with issues related to the implementation of the following national action plans.
