On January 20, 2026, a training session was conducted through the digital platform at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with young promoters from a special group of correspondents (media) representing higher educational institutions of the country. The training was organized to ensure effective media coverage of the first league of the AFK Champions League Two Round of 16 match between Turkmenistan’s “Arkadag” football club and Saudi Arabia’s “Al-Nassr” club, which will take place on February 11 of this year in Ashgabat.
The online session was attended by members of the media group consisting of talented journalism students from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the International University for the Humanities and Development, Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the Turkmen State Institute of Culture, and the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, as well as experienced instructors who actively participate in international-level events. The training was held in order to widely cover mass sports and cultural events planned for the year “Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.”
The training session was conducted by Atamyrat Geldimämmedow, a high-level coach-instructor of the Student Sports Club of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, on the topic “The Development of Our Country’s Sports Diplomacy in International Relations.” In his speech, the mentor emphasized the importance of sports diplomacy, highlighting the achievements in Turkmenistan’s sports sector. He particularly noted the role of sports in fostering friendship among peoples, promoting peace and unity between states and nations from a political perspective, and its unique power as an effective force that brings athletes, coaches, and fans closer together, encouraging friendship and brotherhood.
During the session, confidence was expressed that the special training programs organized to ensure the systematic media coverage of events planned under the State Program for 2026 would not only contribute to the high-level organization of these events, but also make a significant contribution to strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation and developing fraternal relations.
At the conclusion of the digital training session, participants expressed their gratitude to Hero Arkadag and the Esteemed President Arkadagly Hero Serdar, for all the opportunities created for the youth to shape a healthy, well rounded, educated generation.
