Successful start of the XIV World Kurash Championship
The XIV World Kurash Championship is being held in Ashgabat from November 23 to 28, 2023. Yesterday, on November 27, 2023, the first stage of the XIV World Kurash Championship ended in Ashgabat. The winners and prize-winners were determined among men in the weight category up to 90, 100 and over 100 kg and among women in the weight category up to 48, 52, 57, 63, 70 kg.
At the end of the first day of competition, Turkmen athletes won two gold, three silver and three bronze medals. Also, students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan supported Turkmen athletes in the first stage of the competition.
About 500 people, including athletes, coaches, judges and other officials from more than 50 countries, are taking part in the XIV World Kurash Wrestling Championship. This year, 15 sportsmen (7 men and 8 women) are participating from our country.
The record number of participants at the championship once again became an indicator of the growing authority of Turkmenistan on the world stage. The championship also created a comprehensive platform for the exchange of experience and knowledge among athletes.
