Qatar Meetings: a new page regarding the educational system
The working visit of the Turkmen delegation to the State of Qatar headed by the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan B. Orazdurdyeva once again proves that the system of science and education is one of the priority areas not only in the domestic policy of our state, but also in foreign policy relations. The meetings, held on February 27, 2024, will be an important impetus for further expanding the scope of cooperation in the relevant sphere.
In the first half of the day, the Turkmen delegation had a meeting with Salem Al Nuaimi, Rector of Doha University. At the high-level meeting, special attention was paid to strengthening bilateral cooperation and scientific relations. In addition, in this regard, proposals related to raising active cooperation to new levels were presented and some issues were discussed.
In the afternoon, the meeting of the Turkmen delegation with the leadership of Lusail University was also distinguished by its effectiveness. At the meeting with the director of the university Mr. Nitam Hind, the rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldyev emphasized the importance of Turkmen-Qatari cooperation in the field of education, and special attention was paid to the legal basis for co-operation in the field of education between the two countries. As it is noted, Arabic is currently taught as a subject in three higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan, Doveletmammamet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, Magtymguly Turkmen State University and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and more than 150 students are studying this language. In addition, more than 4.5 thousand students are being taught Arabic in 6 secondary schools specializing in foreign languages throughout our country.
During the meeting, getting acquainted with the experience of Lusail University several proposals were presented by the Turkmen delegation in order to establish cooperation between the higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan and this higher educational institution in various fields. The proposals related to the issue of opening a branch of this higher educational institution in Turkmenistan is significant as they are based on the important requirements of nowadays. This unanimously approved initiative will serve as a fundamental basis for training high-level international specialists in the future. They also expressed their high interest in cooperation with the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management.
These meetings are of great importance in the development of Turkmen-Qatar scientific and educational relations and the implementation of cooperation in the training of high-level specialists.
