The English Language Week has Started
On February 21, 2023, the English Language Week started at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The main goals of the subject week were to increase students' motivation to learn foreign languages, expand their general outlook, increase their cultural level, as well as develop cognitive and creative activity. As the part of English Week, a great number of events are organized by the World Languages Department.
On February 21, on the first day of the English Language Week, an event of a country-specific nature "Acquaintance with the country of the language being studied" took place. Students from all faculties made presentations to the audience on such topics as “Political and diplomatic relations of Turkmenistan with Great Britain”, “Great Britain: language, culture, traditions and etiquettes”, “Education and higher educational institutions of Great Britain”, as well as “Sights of the country." Poems, songs in English, as well as monologues from the works of classics of English literature, performed by students, brought special hue to the event.
The festivity mood of the holiday, the linguistic atmosphere of the first day of the subject week was given by a colorfully decorated exhibition area, organized in the lobby of the main building of the institute.
In order to deepen interaction with the institutions of general education assigned to the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, schoolchildren and teachers from the schools 65th and 68th also participated to the opening ceremony.
In general, the first event of the English Week contributed to the expansion and enrichment of the acquired educational, language and speech experience in the course of mastering the English language, helped to strengthen interdisciplinary connections, deepen knowledge.
