CHINA HELD THE FORUM "SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT OF CENTRAL ASIA IN A NEW SITUATION IN AFGHANISTAN"
On November 19, 2021, in the Beijing, capital of China, a Forum of China and the "five" of Central Asian countries was held on the topic "Security and Development of Central Asia in the New Situation in Afghanistan" with the participation of the consultative organization of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CAS).
The organizers of the forum were from the Institute for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the CAS, the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Institute for Strategic Studies of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The organizers of the forum are the Institute for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, KAON, the Secretariat of the Council of high-level of the CAS, the All-China Association for the Study of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Our country was represented at the forum by the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. On behalf of our institute, vice-Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Gulshat Yusupova spoke on the topic "TURKMENISTAN-AFGHANISTAN: good-neighborliness at the heart of humanitarian ties."
In her speech, the vice-rector emphasized thanks to the consistent implementation of the foreign policy course of development under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan has made great progress not only at the national level, but also in the regional and international dimensions.
Adhering to the traditions of good neighborliness inherited from our ancestors, the principles of mutual respect, equality and protection of national interests, our country maintains fruitful and mutually beneficial relations with all states of the region and the world, have established itself as a reliable partner. Developing cooperation with the countries of the region, Turkmenistan also strengthens fraternal relations with its close neighbor - Afghanistan and attaches great importance to this partnership, considering the establishment of stability in a neighboring country as an integral factor in maintaining peace and security not only in the Central Asian region, also worldwide.
At sessions of the UN and other representative international forums, our state has repeatedly made specific proposals, supporting the decision of the Community of Nations to increase the UN's international economic and financial support for this country. Also, our state put forward initiatives on the importance of developing a long-term program for the reconstruction of Afghanistan under the auspices of the UN.
During her speech, Gulshat Geldieva also noted that as a result of the humane policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan regularly provides humanitarian assistance to fraternal Afghanistan. These actions always give the Afghan people a feeling of confidence in their "closest friend", and they express words of sincere gratitude to the Turkmen people and their national Leader for their free assistance and support.
At the end of her speech, the vice-rector of the institute, quoting the words of the President of Turkmenistan: “The readiness of Turkmenistan, as a neighboring and neutral state, to promote the establishment of appropriate contacts and create conditions for the early establishment of peace, harmony and unity in Afghanistan, remains unchanged,” concluded that this is another evidence the interest of the Turkmen side in maintaining a stable peace in Afghanistan, which in the future will favorably influence the stabilization of the situation in the Central Asian region and in its further development.
