«THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN CLIMATE CHANGE»
On November 21st 2023, at the International University for the Humanities and Development, which is one of the higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan, held a joint regional conference entitled «The Role of Youth in Climate Change». In this regard, the Ashgabat Center of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has become an active partner organization of Turkmenistan. The representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, Youth Organization named after Magtymguly of Turkmenistan, Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, International University of Humanities and Development, Turkmen State Institute of Energy, International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshageldi Kakayev participated in conference via digital network. The meeting was held in three sections:
I. OSCE initiatives in youth empowerment on climate change issues;
II. Key issues related to climate change in Central Asia;
III. Youth are a driving force in the fight against climate change.
The meeting provided an opportunity for young people to discuss the climate change-related issues affecting the nature of Central Asian states and find solutions for them. The successful holding of the joint regional conference «The Role of Youth in Climate Change» testifies to the commitment of Turkmenistan's youth to solving the pressing issues related to climate change. This issue of climate change in Turkmenistan was another important step in expanding the rights and opportunities of young people, and created many opportunities for them to combate against climate change.
