TRAINING COURSE ON THE FRAMEWORK CONVENTION ON THE PROTECTION OF THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT OF THE CASPIAN SEA
On October 2, 2023, a training course was held to explain and preach the importance of the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Framework Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea (Tehran Convention) in the organization of the Educational Center on Priority Areas of Diplomacy of Turkmenistan. The training course was conducted by Gulshirin Charygulyeva, deputy head of the Information Security and Analysis Department of the Caspian Sea Institute of Turkmenistan.The Tehran Convention was signed in November 2003 and entered into force on August 12, 2006, and in connection with this, August 12 of each year is celebrated as Caspian Sea Day. Within the framework of this Convention, four Protocols have been adopted, including the Protocol on Combating Oil Spills (Aktau Protocol), Protection from Ground Source Pollution (Moscow Protocol), Biodiversity Conservation (Ashgabat Protocol) and Transboundary Environmental Impact Assessment. The representative of the Caspian Sea Institute of Turkmenistan, G. Charygulyeva, explained in detail each of the mentioned Protocols. G.Charygulyeva also said that the activities currently being carried out in the country are aimed at wide promotion of the multifaceted ecological policy of the state, the comprehensive strengthening and expansion of international cooperation, the coordination of the efforts of the entire world community for the sake of the conservation and safe protection of the ecological system, biological diversity and resources of large reservoirs.
The training course was very effective for the students and during the course the students found answers to their questions.
