International Journalism: With the principle of tutor-apprenticeship
At the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on January 21, 2021, creative practical lesson was held aiming to accomplish mission which was given by the President of Turkmenistan about paying special attention to the training of high-ranking journalists as well as the development of principle of a mentorship in journalism at a working conference on digital video communication on December 23, 2020, with participation of Rakhmet Gylyjov, Editor-in-Chief of World Literature magazine and students of the Faculty of International Journalism.
During the workshop, the participants noted the need for young journalists to be educated and behaved in the spirit of patriotism and morality, as well as the need for them to excel in advanced computer technologies and digital systems. Journalist Rakhmet Gylyjov told young journalists about the works being done in gathering information for the news, the features of working with news sources, news, showing the development of our country and the policies pursued by our Esteemed President through the coverage of the news in the international media. The guest also noted the importance of developing a mentor-student principle in journalism. The main goal of every student studying journalism was to deeply study the work of our teachers, who have done great work in the development of Turkmen journalism, as well as to preserve and enrich our national heritage from our ancestors. Rahmet Gylyjov, a skilled translator, also shared with students the influential information about literary editing and translation features for students interested in this field. He advised to read a number of translated works on a regular basis by noting requirement for a special skills and experience in translating and editing foreign works.
During the interesting and informative lesson, participant students also asked the questions about important practical issues of journalism in modern world practice. The practical lesson was very effective for the students who will become future international journalists.
At the end of the practical lesson, the participants thanked the President for all the created opportunities.
