Special Event Dedicated to International Day of Non-violence and Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi
On the 2nd October, 2024 at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, a special event was held which was dedicated to the International day of Non-violence and the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.
At the beginning of the event, a garden planting ceremony was held on the grounds of the institute to commemorate this remarkable day. It was followed by the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan.
The meeting was dedicated to the International Day of Non-violence and the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. During the meeting, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan, Mrs. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova and UN Regional Coordinator for Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko delivered speeches on these remarkable events.
At the end of the meeting, a short video film on Mahatma Gandhi was shown. Also, on the occasion of today's event, books on Mahatma Gandhi were presented to the Rector of the institute by the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan.
Indeed, the fact that the International Day of Non-violence is also celebrated along with birthday of Mahatma Gandhi holds great meaning. Because it coincides with the anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the efforts to gain the independence of the Republic of India and the founder of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence, it is an opportunity to develop a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding, and non-violence. Especially Mahatma Gandhi's "Conquer your enemy with love!" philosophy found great support among the Indian people and called for a peaceful solution to any problem.
Today, the convergence of the peace philosophies of our Hero Arkadag and Mahatma Gandhi creates a wide opportunity for further development and strengthening of Turkmen-Indian relations.
