INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC-PRACTICAL CONFERENCE HELD AT MAGTYMGULY TURKMEN STATE UNIVERSITY
On June 4, 2026, the plenary session of the international scientific-practical conference: “A Key Direction of Sustainable Development Goals: Ecology and Climate Change Issues” was held at Magtymguly Turkmen State University. The international conference was organized during the year “Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses,” in honor of both the upcoming 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence and World Environment Day. The event aligns with the “Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State: National Program of Turkmenistan's Socio-Economic Development in the Period 2022–2052,” the “Strategy for the Development of Science in Turkmenistan for 2024–2052,” and the “Strategy for the Development of Higher Professional Education in Turkmenistan for 2026–2052.”
The professors, teachers, and students from both domestic and foreign higher education institutions, as well as scientists, researchers, graduate students, and doctoral students from the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the Technology Center, and organizations under the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan attended the event. Faculty members and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan also actively participated in the international conference via a digital system.
Speakers emphasized the large-scale reforms and international initiatives being implemented in the country under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero Arkadag, aimed at protecting the environment, ensuring ecological safety, and combating climate change at the conference. It was further noted that Turkmenistan actively cooperates with the global community to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and introduce scientific achievements and innovative technologies into production.
Following the plenary session, the conference continued its work across four distinct breakout sessions: “The Role of Modern Education and Scientific Achievements in Ensuring Ecological Safety,” “Modern Issues of Climate Change Adaptation and Protection of Water Resources,” “Innovative Methods of Rational Use of Natural Resources,” “Modern Methods of Studying Biodiversity and Their Practical Significance.”
