International Epidemic Preparation Day
A successful response to epidemics requires cooperation and solidarity among individuals, communities, states and regional and international organizations. The General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a special resolution to conclude results from the Covid-19 pandemic and prepare for potential future epidemics. As a result, December 27th was designated as international Epidemic Preparation Day.
The United Nations, particularly the World Health Organization, plays a crucial role in coordinating responses to epidemics and supporting national, regional, and international efforts to prevent and mitigate them.
Raising awareness, on epidemic issues, sharing best practices, and strengthening defenses against epidemics at all levels are essential measures for preventing and combating epidemics.
