INTERNATIONAL LAW IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBAL INITIATIVES
On May 12, 2026, a specialized seminar was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan as part of the International Scientific-Practical Conference “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan: Cooperation for Peace, Safety, and Sustainable Development”. The featured speaker was Vakhtang Muradashvili, a guest lecturer from the Faculty of Law and International Relations of the Georgian Technical University.
The lecture, organized to strengthen Turkmen-Georgian scientific and educational cooperation, drew significant interest from the students and faculty of the International Law Department at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the seminar, the international expert provided a detailed analysis of the mechanisms behind the formation of international law, defined the legal status of its primary subjects, and highlighted current aspects of interstate relations. Special attention was paid to the correlation between international and national law, which serves as the foundation of modern legal diplomacy.
The event directly aligns with the initiative proposed by Turkmenistan at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly to declare 2028 the “Year of International Law”. Such academic meetings contribute to the development of a legal culture among future international specialists, serve to protect national interests within the system of international relations, and strengthen the foundations of global peace.
The meeting concluded with an open dialogue between the lecturer and the audience. Students received comprehensive answers to their questions, allowing them to reinforce their theoretical knowledge and expand their professional horizons.
