Online Conference on Gender Equality
On November 10-11, 2021, a Regional Training for girls on leadership, mentoring and gender equality was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Representatives from Turkmenistan took part in an online format. Representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan (Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the International University for the Humanities and Development, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan), as well as UNDP gender expert in Uzbekistan Muhabbat Turkmenova, the Secretariat of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia, UNDP project employee Bahodir Ergashev and others attended the training.
On the first day of the event, such topics as women in Central Asian society: perceptions and stereotypes, the evolution of the role of women in public and state life, international norms aimed at ensuring gender equality, girls’ leadership and the Sustainable Development Goals were discussed. On the second day of the training, Andrey Khanzhin, Political Adviser, UNRCCA, gave a speech on “Women, Peace and Security”, and Nicholas Van Beek, CEO of LUXIP SA, explained the basics of entrepreneurship. At the end of the training, the results of the training were summed up.
