LECTURE ON TURKMEN-MALAYSIAN BILATERAL RELATIONS
On October 9, 2025, a seminar on the topic of “Turkmen-Malaysian Bilateral Relations” was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The session was conducted by His Excellency Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, Head of Delegation, Senior Political Secretary to Prime Minister of Malaysia.
During the seminar, His Excellency Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin told the students in detail about the key aspects of the Turkmen-Malaysian bilateral relations. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, both countries have carried out mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas of interest. The relations have been strengthened through cooperation in the field of oil and gas industry, which is a cornerstone for both countries. For almost 30 years, Malaysian company PETRONAS has been actively involved in hydrocarbon production projects in Turkmenistan. In addition, the company effectively trains qualified specialists for the oil and gas industry.
It is essential to note that Turkmenistan and Malaysia are linked by friendly relations based on traditions of mutual respect. At present, cooperation between Turkmenistan and Malaysia is successfully developing within multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement and other International Organizations.
