“LET’S READ TOGETHER!”: THE INSTITUTE CELEBRATED WORLD BOOK AND COPYRIGHT DAY
On April 23, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted the hybrid competition titled “Let’s Read Together!” dedicated to UNESCO World Book and Copyright Day.
The event was organized by the UNESCO Club “Culture of Peace” of the Institute in partnership with the Berkararlyk District Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization. This partnership emphasized the significance of books as an instrument for education and cultural diplomacy.
Undergraduate and graduate students from the leading higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan participated in the creative competition. A key feature of the contest was that participants delivered presentations on masterpieces of world literature in the English language. This allowed the students to demonstrate not only a deep understanding of the classics but also a high level of linguistic proficiency.
The main objectives of the competition was the popularization of reading among the youth, stimulating the creative potential of students and developing public speaking skills in a foreign language.
Based on the results of the performances, an independent jury determined the winners, who were awarded honorary diplomas and commemorative gifts: the Grand Prize was won by Ovezgeldi Akmammedov (Turkmen State Institute of Finance), 1st place went to Myahri Durdynazarova (Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan), 2nd place to Nyazik Atayeva (Myrat Garryev State Medical University of Turkmenistan) and 3rd place to Aysoltan Annakova (Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages).
At the end of the event, participants noted that such initiatives play an important role in the development of international cultural dialogue and in revealing the intellectual potential of the young generation. The speakers expressed their sincere gratitude to the Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for creating all the necessary conditions in the country for the comprehensive development of youth and the improvement of the education system.
