Japanese Film Festival held in Ashgabat
On December 15-17, 2023, the 7th Japanese Film Festival was held in Ashgabat, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan. On December 15th at the Ashgabat cinema, the opening ceremony of the event, guests were greeted by the Ambassador of Japan to Turkmenistan Sasaki Hiroshi and the Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Nursakhet Shirimov.
On December 16, at the screening of the second film, entitled “Only the Cat Knows,” among the audience were teachers and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The presented film describes the story of the life of an elderly couple. Events took place half a century ago, during the era of economic growth in Japan. The audience was interested in observing the behavior of the characters and their manner of communication.
The students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan are interested in the culture of Japan, and in particular cinematography and Japanese animation, which are so popular all over the world. This film festival impressed the interest of Turkmen students for learning the Japanese language.
