A BRIEFING “THE STORE OF MIND ARKADAG AND FRAGI”
On January 25, 2024, under the organization of the Secretariat of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, together with the UNESCO Club “Languages of the World”, created on the basis of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi, a briefing entitled “The Fount of Wisdom of Arkadag and Fragi” was held.
During the briefing via video link, speeches were heard from the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Chinar Rustemova, leaders and active members of the UNESCO clubs - “Culture of Peace”, operating at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the UNESCO club “Environmental protection is an important concept of sustainable development”, created on the basis of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, “Akhal-Teke horses - messengers of peace”, operating at the International Academy of Horse Breeding named after Aba Annaev and the UNESCO club “Medicinal plants - our health, our heritage” operating at the State Medical University of Turkmenistan named after Myrat Garryev. Members of the above-mentioned UNESCO Clubs also took part in the briefing via digital video link.
As noted, the year 2024 in Turkmenistan was declared the year of “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi.” Large-scale activities are being carried out in our country to further enhance the world fame of Magtymguly Fragi’s work and its widespread propaganda, strengthening international cooperation in this direction. In accordance with the Resolution adopted by the President of Turkmenistan, preparations are undertake for a wide celebration in 2024 at the world level of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker and poet of the East Magtymguly Fragi. The activities carried out in our country to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the fount of reason, the classical poet Magtymguly Fragi, together with the international community, are important in studying the rich and priceless literary heritage of our poet-thinker, who is included in the golden fund of world literature.
In addition, during the briefing it was noted that a number of events will also be held jointly by UNESCO member states in accordance with the Resolution adopted on November 21, 2023 within the framework of the plenary session of the 42nd session of the General Conference of UNESCO, according to which the celebration of the “300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi” included in the list of memorable dates that will be celebrated jointly with UNESCO in 2024–2025.
Thanks to cultural diplomacy successfully implemented by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag and the respected President of Turkmenistan, Arkadagly Hero Serdar, large-scale work is being carried out in the country to preserve, comprehensively study and disseminate the invaluable heritage of the Turkmen classical poet and philosopher Magtumkuli Fragi . Together with the UN specialized agency for education, science and culture, UNESCO, a wealth of experience has been accumulated in the field of studying and preserving unique historical heritage.
As is known, on May 24, 2023, the UNESCO Executive Board adopted a unanimous decision to include new documentary collections in the list. 64 documentary collections have been included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. It is gratifying to recall that the register included a collection of manuscripts of Magtymguly Fragi, presented by Turkmenistan. The collection of poems by the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi includes surviving manuscripts of his works, which spread throughout Turkmenistan in the 18th-19th centuries.
These good news are clear evidence of the success of the cultural diplomacy of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag and the respected President of Turkmenistan, Arkadagly Hero Serdar.
