INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO NATIONAL HERITAGE WAS HELD
On October 5, 2026, an international conference titled "Our National Heritage – Solid Foundation of Our Independence" was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The conference was dedicated to the significance of national cultural heritage, its preservation and protection, and its transmission to younger generations.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, a song was performed by the Institute's performance and creative group. The event was moderated by Senior Lecturer Aygozel Ovezova, Head of the Institute's UNESCO Club "Culture of Peace," and active member of the Central Council of the Women's Union of Turkmenistan.
The conference featured speeches by Gulshat Yusupova, Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, and Chinar Rustemova, Hero of Turkmenistan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, and Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.
Representatives of UNESCO Clubs and National Commissions from foreign countries also participated in the international conference online. Speeches were delivered by Yelena Smirnova, Expert of the Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, and Sabina Akzharova, Vice-President of the National Federation of UNESCO Clubs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, speeches were delivered by Jemile Gurbanova, Head of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, Candidate of Art History, and Daria Musina, Head of the Association of UNESCO Clubs of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as Professor Mustafa Sever, Vice-President of the Education Committee of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO. During the conference Gurban Myradov, Head of the International Cooperation of the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan made a speech in the role of youth in modern life.
At the conclusion of the conference, an Address to the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, was adopted on behalf of the participants.
