SEMINAR ON COUNTER-TERRORISM STRATEGY IN ALMATY
On September 28-30, 2022, a regional forum titled “Role of Civil Society Organizations in Central Asia in The Implementation of National Action Plans to Prevent and Counter Violent Extremism” was held in Almaty. Representatives of many international organizations, including experts from the UN and independent experts and scientists from all Central Asian states gathered at their workshop. In their speeches at the Forum, held under the auspices of the UN Counter-Terrorism Center, each of the scientists and experts, touching upon the specific features of the fight against terrorist in their country, simultaneously highlighted and designated the most acceptable methods of combating terrorism with the active participation of civil society in the Central Asian region.
Representatives of the Turkmen delegation in their speeches and during discussions noted the dependence of stability in the region on the process of maintaining peace and tranquility in Afghanistan. In this regard, they also emphasized the importance of joining efforts and coordinating the actions of all interested organizations, including at the international level.
It is known that terrorism is one of the most pressing challenges of today. In this regard, UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy is a unique global instrument to enhance national, regional and international efforts to counter terrorism.
All participants were unanimous that such forums are primarily aimed at enhancing the participation of civil society in the implementation of national action plans together with the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
