Conducted an online training course on the topic "Implementation of international standards on defamation in national legislation"
On June 7-8, 2023, an online training course organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Center in Ashgabat on the topic “Implementation of international standards on defamation into national legislation” was held via video link at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event was held in accordance with the "Plan of projects planned for implementation by the Government of Turkmenistan jointly with the OSCE Center in Ashgabat in 2023", within the framework of the project "Assistance in implementation of the provisions of the National Action Plan of Turkmenistan in the field of human rights for 2021-2025 (NHRAP) regarding freedom of the media and freedom of expression”.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ministry of the Interior of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Adalat Turkmenistan, Mejlis of Turkmenistan, The General Prosecutor's Office og Turkmenistan, The Supreme Court of Turkmenistan, Institute of State, Law and Democracy, Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan, State News Agency, the media of Turkmenistan, as well as teachers of the Institute of International relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Turkmen State University named Makhtumkuli, International University for the Humanities and Development.
The purpose of this course is to familiarize national experts with international standards on defamation and their implementation in national legislation. During the course, international experts gave a comprehensive understanding of human rights and freedoms, and their dignity.
At the end of the speeches, within the framework of the Program, a discussion and summing up of the meeting was held.
