A SEMINAR ON HUMAN RIGHTS WAS HELD
From December 10 to 14, 2025, a seminar was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. It was organized by the Center of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Students studying law at the Turkmen State University, the International University for the Humanities and Development, the Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan participated in the seminar.
Castberg Rune, officer in charge of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, attended the opening ceremony of the seminar and delivered the keynote speech. International human rights experts from the Republic of Moldova Iurie Levinte, Ion Graur and Weronika Wition also took part in it.
The seminar covered a wide range of topics including the historical development of human rights, freedoms and rights, legal assistance in criminal investigations, international standards of investigation, combating torture and related guarantees, combating impunity, detention procedures, and the right to a fair trial. Students completed tests on each topic covered.
Traditionally, this seminar is held by the OSCE annually and is dedicated to the International Human Rights Day. During the seminar students exchanged of views on the related topics. Following the seminar, students who took part in the seminar were awarded certificates.
