Latterly, the propitious inception of the academic year 2023-2024 has been presented with a great number of important dates, the most salient one of which is the 5th of September, 2023. On this day, the delegation of Turkmenistan, predominantly the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Secretary General of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE), Dimitri Kerkentzes.
The meeting was embarked on with a mention of the incorporated methods employed in Turkmenistan in the revitalizing of the field of exhibition activities. Accordingly, the head of BIE was apprised of the potential blueprints for putting into effect the Concept for the development of international exhibition activities of Turkmenistan for 2024-2025, which was enthusiastically endorsed by the President of Turkmenistan in August 2023. During the concomitant discussions, both sides gave prominence to the showcases for developing trade and foreign economic relations in complement with strengthening the economic potential of the country.
The mutual covenant on the further enhancement of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the BIE was appreciatively reached by both sides. What was casted light upon during the meeting was the reference to our country’s active preparation for the participation in the International Exhibition “Expo-2023 Doha” in Qatar in 2024, as well as in the World Exhibition “Expo-2025 Osaka” in Japan in 2025.
In retrospect, the meeting akin to this was also held by dint of online conference on April 15, 2020. The focal point of video conference was the “EXPO-Dubai” international exhibition. It was specifically pointed out that Dimitri Kerkentzes would participate in the international conference “Neutrality policy and its role in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development”. This statement clearly conveys the progressive crusades of Turkmenistan for the further improvement of international exhibition activities.
Conclusively, the delegation of Turkmenistan and the Secretary General of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) manifested their fervent hope and alacrity to underpin mutually favourable cooperation in international exhibition activities.
