UN SECRETARY-GENERAL A.GUTERRES PARTICIPATED IN THE INAUGURATION OF THE NEW OFFICE-BUILDING
On 6th of july, 2024 United Nations General-Secretary Antonio Guterres participated in the inauguration of the “Mirap” building which is the new office of United Nation in Turkmenistan. The event was also attended by heads of ministries and agencies of the country, heads and staff of UN missions in Turkmenistan, as well as mass media. The opening ceremony began with the official raising of the flags of Turkmenistan and the United Nations on the square in front of the building. Speaking at the ceremony, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, noted that the relations between Turkmenistan and the United Nations are at an exemplary level. Noting that fruitful relations have been maintained with Turkmenistan for many years, Secretary General said that the next year has been declared “2025 - the year of international peace and trust” on the initiative of Turkmenistan.
During the opening ceremony, the head of the authoritative international organisation expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for all possible assistance and support in its work over the years and expressed confidence that Turkmenistan-UN cooperation would continue to develop dynamically in all priority areas. It was also great honour for me, as an SDG ambassador also taking part in such kind of event and meet with the Secretary General of United Nations.
