THE IMAGE OF THE HORSE IS THE SPIRITUAL WEALTH OF THE TURKMEN PEOPLE
Every nation has its history, traditions, language and culture. Cultural heritage is the spiritual and material values created by a people over millennia; it is a spiritual bridge connecting the past, present, and future of the nation. Therefore, preserving and passing on cultural heritage to younger generations is of particular importance for safeguarding national identity. In the Era of the Revival of a New Epoch of a Powerful State, the preservation and promotion of national heritage is one of the priorities of the state policy of Turkmenistan.
Inspired by the wise words of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag “We have a rich and ancient heritage, priceless cultural and spiritual values”- significant efforts are being made in our country to instill the ancient cultural heritage into the hearts and minds of the younger generation, and to teach them its value.
Cultural heritage is a great bridge stretching from the past into the future, uniting history, traditions, creativity, and spiritual wealth to create enduring bonds between generations. Cultural heritage is not only a collection of works of art or ancient monuments, but also a vivid expression of the customs, philosophy and creative potential of our people.
The cultural heritage of the Turkmen people is rich and diverse. In this regard, the Ahalteke horse takes a special place as one of the most ancient and valuable elements of the cultural heritage of the Turkmen people. This is not only a unique example of world horse breeding, but also an integral part of the historical, spiritual and state traditions of the nation.
With its millennia-long history, speed, and unique beauty, the Ahalteke horse is rightfully considered a priceless treasure for all civilization. Our Hero Arkadag has written several books about the Turkmen horse, such as “Ahalteke Horse – Our Pride and Glory”, “Winged Horses,” “Swift Step of a Race Horse” and “A Horse is a Symbol of Faithfulness and Happiness”. All these works focus on the history, beauty, loyalty, training, speed as well as the vital role of these racers in the destiny of the Turkmen people, elevating them as national treasures and symbols of our Motherland. Having evolved alongside the nation for thousands of years, the Ahalteke horse symbolizes the nobility and courage of our people.
The image of our national pride, our horses, occupies a special place in Turkmen art. As our Hero Arkadag noted: “Historical monuments are clear evidence that the image of the Turkmen horse has attracted the attention of sculptors, potters, artisans, artists and carpet weavers since ancient times”. Thus, the Ahalteke horse is world famous for its exceptional beauty, slender body structure and golden-shimmering coat. It stands out for its endurance, intelligence, and loyalty to its owner. Nobility and strength are embodied in the character of the Ahalteke horse. Ahalteke horse is the pride of the Turkmen people and a valuable symbol of our national heritage.
Furthermore, the promotion of the horse at international exhibitions and cultural events has become an important pillar of the country’s cultural diplomacy, strengthening Turkmenistan’s position in the global cultural sphere. It should be noted that today the construction in Arkadag City of the new stable, Aba Annayev International Horse Breeding Academy, Gerogly State Equestrian Circus, the scientific and production center for horse breeding and the International Ahalteke Equestrian Complex indicates that national horse breeding is developing on an integrated and scientific basis. Thus, cultural heritage is a priceless treasure that connects the past with the present and brightens the future. Preserving its sacredness and passing it on to new generations is of great significance.
