The city of Ashgabat is the white marble capital of independent, eternally neutral Turkmenistan, recognized as the pearl city of Central Asia. According to historical data, the name of the city is derived from the Persian words (ashq "love") and (abad "city"). Today, Ashgabat is an advanced industrialized city and a unique brand of sustainable development, security and unrepeatable beauty. On May 25, 2013, Ashgabat was entered into the Guinness Book of Records as the city with the largest concentration of white marble buildings, and the corresponding certificate of this edition was presented. According to the decision of our friend, since 2013, May 25 has been celebrated as the Day of the Capital - Ashgabat City Day. On May 1, 2020, Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, became a member of the World Federation of Tourist Cities (WTF). Today, Ashgabat is the political, social, economic, scientific, educational and cultural center of the country, its special status is determined by the Law "On the legal status of the capital of Turkmenistan". The reputation of the Turkmen capital as a regional and international center of diplomacy and neutrality is also growing. The headquarters of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, established in 2007 in accordance with the decision of the General Assembly of the United Nations with the support of the member states and members of the UN Security Council, is located here. The construction of schools and pre-school institutions, residential buildings with high amenities, sports and other facilities of social importance is actively going on in the city. The capital of Turkmenistan is a large trade center. Ashgabat occupies a leading position in the country's general trade. Ashgabat has more than 20 higher education schools and about 200 secondary schools of various specializations. Major research and project institutes are located in the city. The capital of Turkmenistan is a cultural and sports center with many theaters and state museums, as well as other cultural centers, major sports facilities, including the Olympic Village, Olympic Water Sports Complex, Ice Palace and Winter Sports Complex, horse riding. - there is a sports complex and many other important facilities for various purposes. "Inspiration Park" is located between the two central streets of the capital - Gorogly and Magtymguly avenues. It includes statues of Turkmen poets, thinkers, public figures and outstanding scientists of today, and a significant set of sculptural compositions. Ashgabat has been mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records many times. This publication includes the capital's tallest flagpole (133 m), the largest complex of fountains (27 synchronized fountains), the largest indoor observation wheel of the "Elem" cultural and recreational center, the octagonal star of Oguzhan, which is part of the structure of the "Turkmenistan" television and radio broadcasting center. - as the largest architectural image of the star, as well as the largest image of the lake (750 square meters) located in the main passenger terminal of Ashgabat International Airport, as the world's largest artistic image of the Akhalteke horse on the podium of the Ashgabat Olympic Stadium, and the Center for Water Sports and is recognized as the world's largest indoor swimming pool. It can be said that Ashgabat's high status and beautiful architectural appearance is the result of the hard work of thousands of people. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our friend, our capital is becoming more beautiful. Under the prudent leadership of our National Leader, our Honorable President, Ashgabat has turned into a white marble city where the dreams of our people have come true, and which is rapidly moving towards the future. Ashgabat, a sacred city for every Turkmen, symbolizes the spirit of the Turkmen people, their desire for peace and creative work.
