Practice makes perfect
As we all know, there is a difference between theoretical and practical knowledge. The master diplomat of Turkmenistan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan Amangeldi Rahmanov always remarks: “In addition to various theoretical knowledge, diplomatic work is the result of great experience, special skills and higher professional training demands.”
We understood the great power of these words when we were in a practice at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kyrgyz Republic. During the practice we were introduced to the procedure of work of the consulate: receiving letters, providing services to the foreign citizens and our compatriots such as issuing passports and visas, providing assistance during emergencies and etc. Some doubts that were not resolved by theory for us, were resolved by practice. Diplomatic practice for 12 weeks improved the theoretical knowledge which was given by the professors of the Turkmen National School of Diplomacy. It was not only gaining experience, but also we go introduced to the national principles of Kyrgyz people, traditions, culture, national values, meals, clothes… everything. We also learned the similarities of these two brother nations, which is very important in any profession especially diplomats.
At our free time we have visited many historical and national places and got acquinted with history, art, music and literature of the Kyrgyz nation. One of the noticeable places that we visited was the house museum of great writer of Kyrgyz people Ch. Aytmatov. There we got to know more about his life, works and rewards. This museum had great impact on us.
During our practice time, different remarkable events took place. One of them is directly connected with our institute. On October 30, 2023 a round table discussion dedicated to the Turkmen — Kyrgyz cooperation was held between the Turkmen National School of Diplomacy and Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyz Republic named after K. Dikambaev. We have participated at this event along with Vice-Rector of Scientific Affairs of our institute B.Matliev, and O. Muhammetberdiev, professor of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy.
Also on October 13, 2023, Council of the Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place in Bishkek.
We are very thankful to our esteemed President and Hero Arkadag for created opportunities to improve our knowledge at a practice in an international level.
