November 20 - World Children's Day
November 20 is World Children's Day, which was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1954. The main purpose of celebrating this Day is to ensure the well-being of children around the world. The United Nations General Assembly in its resolution declares that the celebration of World Children's Day as a global holiday will further strengthen solidarity and cooperation between countries.
The issues of protection of children, guaranteeing their rights and freedoms within the framework of international law, are of paramount importance. The Convention on the Rights of the Child is one of the most important international legal documents, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on November 20, 1989. Turkmenistan ratified this Convention in September 1994 as a member state of the organization. This Convention was the first Convention to have legally binding force.
Owing to the tireless efforts of our deeply respected President, legal and social guarantees for comprehensive development of children and youth have been created in our country.
