New Page of Friendship
Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea cooperate effectively in multilateral fields. Our countries show that their views on important areas of the regional and global agenda are close or compatible, and they support the initiatives of the United Nations and other international organizations. Today, the Turkmen-Korean business forum is being held in the capital as part of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan. The business forum was given a special status with the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the head of the friendly country Yun Sok Yeol.
It is noteworthy that the interaction of our countries through business communities has received a new impetus for development on a multilateral basis, in particular, on the «Central Asia – Republic of Korea» platform. In this regard, let us recall that in November 2023, in Ashgabat, within the framework of the 16th ministerial meeting of the Cooperation Forum in this format, the 4th meeting of the Business Council and the business forum of young entrepreneurs «Central Asia – Republic of Korea» were held. In short, there are all the conditions and opportunities to take the traditional partnership to a qualitatively new level.
The venue for the joint business forum was the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. The President of the Republic of Korea Yun Seok Yeol was warmly welcomed there by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Before the start of the forum, Hero Arkadag and the President of the Republic of Korea Yun Seok Yeol together inspected the exhibition deployed in the lobby of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which allowed them to get a visual representation of economic achievements.
The subject of a detailed discussion will be the possibilities for developing trade, economic and investment cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea. State visits between nations are pivotal events that underscore and reinforce diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. The state visit of the President of South Korea to Turkmenistan exemplifies such an engagement, serving as a cornerstone for enhancing bilateral relations and fostering cooperative ventures across multiple sectors.
South Korea and Turkmenistan have shared a relationship marked by mutual respect and cooperation since Turkmenistan’s independence in 1991. The state visit by the South Korean President symbolizes a deepening of this relationship. It reflects South Korea’s strategic interest in Central Asia and Turkmenistan’s role as a vital partner within the region. These visits are more than ceremonial; they are deliberate efforts to consolidate ties, address mutual concerns, and explore new avenues for collaboration.
One of the primary focuses of the state visit is economic cooperation. South Korea, with its advanced technology and robust economic infrastructure, views Turkmenistan as a key partner in sectors like energy and infrastructure.
The state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea Yun Seok Yeol to Turkmenistan is a strategic endeavor that strengthens bilateral relations through economic, cultural, and geopolitical cooperation. It reflects the mutual interests and aspirations of both nations, paving the way for a collaborative and prosperous future. By focusing on tangible outcomes and fostering mutual understanding, such visits contribute significantly to regional stability and global diplomacy. As South Korea and Turkmenistan continue to build on international partnership, the relationship of the countries stands as a testament to the power of diplomatic engagement and the benefits of international cooperation.
