INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE ARABIC LANGUAGE
Arabic is the language of many peoples and states in the Middle East and North Africa. Arabic is one of the six official languages of the United Nations and official language of the world's most prestigious international organizations. It is the language of the past, present, and future. Arabic is currently the language of diplomacy and international relations, as well as culture and science.
As we know, with the emergence and spread of Islam religion in the VI-VII centuries, this language and Arabic culture spread throughout Central Asia, Iran and Northern India, and then to North Africa and the Middle East as well as to Spain. Arabic was the official language of many ancient and medieval states, the language of advanced Eastern science and literature. Abu Nasyr al-Farabi, Al-Biruni, Al-Khwarizmi, Abu Ali ibn Sina and many other Turkmen scholars created their world-famous works in Arabic. Enveri, Rudaki, Muwezzi, Abdurahman Jami, Omar Khayyam and other world-famous poets, known for their poetic skills, introduced this language to the whole world as a language of poetry and literature.
In the Middle Ages, the main language in all madrasahs and scientific observatories in the Great Seljuk Turkmen state was Arabic. State documents were also prepared in Arabic. The scientist and linguist Mahmud ibn Ahmet Zamakhshari, who was known as the “Honor of Khorezm”, did a great job in studying the Arabic language and revealing its scientific foundations - grammar and morphology. He wrote several works on the Arabic language. The Baghdad Madrasah, founded in 1076 by the great Vizir of the Seljuk state, Nizam al-Mulk, was the first higher education institution in the world, and all sciences were taught in Arabic. In the Middle Ages, Arabic was also the language of international relations and international law in the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa.
In the 20th century, with the establishment of the United Nations the Arabic language also began to be actively used. In 1973, Arabic was recognized as an official language of the United Nations with the support of the Arab member states of the UN. Later, in 2012, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized December 18 of each year as the “International Day of the Arabic Language”. For this reason, December 18 of each year is celebrated with great ceremony all over the world.
At the current time, Arabic is the official language of 22 countries in the world. Arabic is the native language of 270 million people in the world, and 1.5 billion people use it as a second language. This makes Arabic one of the most important world languages today. During the era of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful state, every opportunity is created for each young generation to get an education in our Motherland. Today, new innovative technologies are actively used in our country to deepen the teaching of the Arabic language. For example, at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, future diplomats are actively educated about the Arabic language and its importance in diplomacy. This is also a clear confirmation of the youth policy pursued in our country.
