First stage of TAMUN
From 25 to 28 February, 2023, a training session TAMUN, the Turkmenistan Ashgabat Model UN, was held in the United Nations and UNRCCA office building in Ashgabat. The training session was organized by UNOCT, UNODC, UNRCCA, USAID/WINROCK and OHCHR.
The aim of this training session was to raise awareness of the activities of the UN system and develop professional skills, as well as to build their public skills for holding similar conferences in future. Moreover, TAMUN was conducted to enhance and strengthen the knowledge and understanding of university students, young SDG ambassadors, and alumni of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy Academy (PDA) in subject areas, such as human rights, peace and security, and the work of the UN in these areas through the stimulation of UN committees.
Meanwhile, there will be 5 TAMUN activities and this training session was the 1st stage of this program. It should be noted that the training was conducted in the English and Russian languages by MUN experts from Tashkent International MUN Society at the Westminster International University in Tashkent.
The training session lasted 4 days. This training session was very productive and interesting for the participants. During training sessions, the students acquired knowledge about detailed rules, terminologies, and formal language used in MUN, and they shared their ideas on interesting topics as well as they learned the basic rules and procedures for holding MUN conferences.
