AN INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE ON THE ROLE OF WOMEN DIPLOMATS IN SOCIETY AND THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS WAS HELD
On March 10, 2026, an interactive dialogue titled “The Role of Women Diplomats in Society and Their Achievements” was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Organized in cooperation with the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, the event was attended by female staff from foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations in Turkmenistan, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as female faculty and students of the Institute.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Mahri Bashimova; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to Turkmenistan, Rana Abu Hijleh; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan, Faryal Leghari; the UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan, Narine Sahakyan; and the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Hero of Turkmenistan Chynar Rustemova delivered speeches during the conference. Moderated by the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, Dmitry Shlapachenko, the session focused on the role of women in modern diplomacy and their contributions to consolidating peace.
The speeches drew particular attention to the significance of Turkmenistan’s policy of Permanent Neutrality, noting its exemplary role in promoting peace-loving initiatives and establishing a dialogue of trust in international relations. As emphasized, the principle of “Dialogue – A Guarantee of Peace”, which is based on the tenets of Neutrality, further strengthens the role of women in diplomacy and supports their initiatives to ensure regional peace. Participants underscored that the skills demonstrated by women in public administration and international cooperation directly contribute to the world's sustainable development.
Furthermore, speakers highlighted that caring for women, strengthening their role in society, and ensuring gender equality in accordance with universally recognized norms of international law are among the top priorities of the state policy of Independent, permanently Neutral Turkmenistan. It was specifically noted that, through the efforts of our Hero-Arkadag and our Honorable President, a responsible approach is taken toward implementing goal-oriented tasks in gender policy, and Turkmenistan’s actions in this direction receive wide international support.
In conclusion, this conference proved effective in enriching the professional experience of young specialists and once again demonstrated the significant role of women in the peacemaking diplomacy of Neutral Turkmenistan.
At the end of the meeting, words of gratitude were expressed to the protector of women, our Hero-Arkadag, and our Honorable President.
