A Practical Training on Mobile Journalism and Creating Media Content with Smartphones
On April 16-17, 2025, a practical training on mobile journalism and creating media content using smartphones was held at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Center in Ashgabat. The event was attended by representatives of the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the electronic newspaper of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, mass media and instructor from higher educational institutions.
The training session began with a speech by Ambassador John MacGregor, the Head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat. He shared his views on developments in modern journalism, ways to engage readers, contemporary media tools, and mobile journalism. The training session was also conducted by Jamshed Marupov, an international expert from Tajikistan, and Yuriy Zvyagintsev, a specialist from Russia. They spoke in detail, based on their own experience, about the importance of digital technologies in improving journalism, the role of mobile or smartphones in delivering news and events quickly to the public, and methods for using them effectively, as well as, they answered participants’ questions.
At the end of the practical training, participants received certificates from the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.
