Turkmenistan Delegation Attended an International Conference in New Delhi

Currently, under the leadership of our Honorable President, Turkmenistan is successfully implementing its “Open Doors” policy, consistently strengthening mutually beneficial relations with the nations of the world, as well as economic and scientific centers. In this regard, a delegation from Turkmenistan recently travelled to New Delhi, Republic of India, to participate in an international conference organized by the India – Central Asia Foundation titled “India – Central Asia: Connectivity, Safety, and Sustainable Partnership in a Multipolar World”.
During the conference, the priority areas for developing relations between the Republic of India and Central Asian countries were discussed in detail. Specifically, Gulshat Yusupova, the Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, spoke during the session titled “Developing Economic Cooperation between India and Central Asian Countries”, where she outlined our country’s international initiatives. Throughout the conference, the Turkmenistan delegation participated actively, discussing our country’s foreign policy of Positive Neutrality and the ongoing work in various sectors – including cultural and humanitarian fields – with the Republic of India, one of our country’s strategic partners.
During the forum, particular emphasis was placed on the fact that cooperation in the fields of science and education serves as a strengthening force for interstate relations. In this context, several positive outcomes of bilateral relations were highlighted, including: the joint publication of the book “India – Turkmenistan: History, Culture, and Economic Development” by the India-Central Asia Foundation and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in 2025. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute and India’s Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service. The opening of an “India Corner” at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan during the 2022 state visit of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind to Turkmenistan. Furthermore, it was emphasized that students at the Institute are provided with extensive opportunities to deeply study the culture, traditions, and scientific-educational achievements of this friendly nation, as well as the centuries-old historical ties between the two states.
In conclusion, this international conference proved once again that the historical and friendly relations between Central Asian countries – including Turkmenistan and India – are being enriched with new meaning under modern conditions. Such forums not only strengthen interstate relations but also revitalize the exchange of experience between scientific and educational institutions. We express our heartfelt gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, and our Honorable President, Arkadagly Hero Serdar, who attach special importance to expanding the scope of international cooperation to raise Turkmen youth as highly educated, broad-minded specialists.

Senior Lecturer at the Department of World Languages
of the Institute of International Relations
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
