CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO «THE INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSPORT DIPLOMACY OF TURKMENISTAN»
On April 22, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan organized a conference entitled «International cooperation in the development of transport diplomacy of Turkmenistan» at the Institute of International Relations. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan, chief editors of the country’s newspapers and magazines, political scientists, professors and students of the National School of Diplomacy of Turkmenistan participated in this meeting.
At the meeting, Ahmet Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev, Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Kerimguly Geldiyev, Chairman of the Committee on International and Parliamentary Relations of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Gulmet Penayev Vice-Rector for Scientific works of the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan, Lachin Dadekova, Ecologist-inspector of the Department of Flight Safety Standards of the Transport and Communications Agency "Turkmenhowayollary", Myrat Goshaev, Head of the first Youth Organization named after Magtymguly of the "Turkmendemiryollary" Agency for Transport and Communications Agency of Turkmenistan under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Perhat Chariyev, senior lecturer of the Department of International Economic relations of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the video presentation of Igor Runov, the Executive Secretary of the UN International Center for Transport Diplomacy delivered speeches to the participations.
Speakers at the meeting discussed the transport policy of the country and its international cooperation, which was adopted according to the results of the XXXVIII meeting of the Conference of General Directors of Railways of the member Countries of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (COCR) and was held in Ashgabat on April 15-19, 2024.
In addition, the round table «Sustainable transport system: a pillar of trade and economic relations» held within the framework of the conference continued in the form of question-and-answer exchange on relevant areas, and the participants discussed the multilateral transport cooperation adopted by the UN General Assembly by the initiative of Turkmenistan in different years. They emphasized the importance of relevant decisions. It should be noted that, based on those initiatives, the adoption of the Resolution on declaring 2023 as «World Sustainable Transport Day» by the UN General Assembly and the successful implementation of the tasks set in the Program of the Development of Transport Diplomacy of the President of Turkmenistan for 2022-2025 should be noted as clear evidence.
At the end of the conference, the audience sincerely wished the Hero Arkadag, Arkadagly Serdar good health, long life, success in activities for the benefit of the people and the state, and new success in the field of transportation diplomacy of Turkmenistan.
