Celebrations in Honor of the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan
The professional holiday of Turkmen diplomats is a symbol of the peace-loving foreign policy of our neutral Motherland, its desire to establish and develop friendly relations and cooperation with other countries of the world. In this regard, on February 18, 2025 the festive celebrations held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in honor of this holiday have a particular importance.
The core of the festive celebrations was the international scientific conference entitled “International Year of Peace and Trust: The Role of Diplomacy in Strengthening International Relations”, dedicated to the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan. At first, participants of the conference were introduced to the special exhibition of diplomatic missions of foreign countries and international organizations in Turkmenistan, organized in the main hall of the Institute.
Then the conference began its work. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, also heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations operating in our country, mass media, rectors of higher educational institutions, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, faculty staff and students attended to this event. At the beginning of the conference participants listened to the Congratulatory Message of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the professional holiday of diplomatic workers. On the Message was stated that the foreign policy and diplomacy of our Permanently Neutral State, based on the principles of peace and trust, are aimed at creating an international arena of necessary opportunities for the implementation of our long-term national programs.
At the conference the UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Sahakyan, Ambassador of the European Union to Turkmenistan Beata Peksa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Turkmenistan Ahmet Demirok, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Turkmenistan Qian Naicheng, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Turkmenistan Mohd Suhaimi Bin Ahmad Tajuddin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Turkmenistan Stephen Conlon, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood had delivered a speech.
It was emphasized that under the leadership of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, Turkmenistan's international authority is growing day by day. Developing friendly relations with all interested countries, expanding effective cooperation with major international and regional organizations, primarily the United Nations, are the main directions of our country's foreign policy. In this regard, the UN General Assembly's adoption of the Resolution "2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust," initiated by Turkmenistan, has a great importance. The preparation of the Concept of Activities and Priorities of Turkmenistan in the International Year of Peace and Trust, and its full approval by the UN Secretary-General, deserve special mention, representing another outstanding achievement of Turkmen diplomacy.
At the end of the event, an Address was adopted to the esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, expressing sincere gratitude for the special attention paid to improving the activities of the country's diplomatic service. They assured that they would continue to make every effort to successfully complete the assigned tasks.
Subsequently, in honor of this significant holiday, and for personal contributions to implementing the country's peaceful, positive foreign policy, strengthening ties with foreign countries in various fields, expanding effective dialogue with major international organizations, and other services to the Motherland, employees of the diplomatic service were awarded with honorary title “Master Diplomat of Turkmenistan” and certificates. Also, following established tradition, young diplomatic employees and distinguished graduating students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan were awarded with honorary certificates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The main celebrations marking the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan featured musical performances in various languages by students of the National School of Turkmen Diplomacy. The festive concert, which provided guests with pleasant emotions, served as a fitting culmination of the Turkmen diplomats' professional holiday.
