Cooperation of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with Soka University of Japan
On January 22, 2024 at the “New Otani” Hotel in Japan in the city of Tokyo a meeting was organized between the rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiev, students of the same institute G. Geldieva and President of Japan Soka University Masashi Suzuki and teaching staff of the university.
During the meeting, the rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan spoke in detail about the work carried out in Institute, introduced the Japanese side to youth policy of Turkmenistan and presented a number of proposals for establishing cooperation.Further, two sides discussed various issues including joint online lectures, seminars and conferences, exchange of delegations and scientific publications, and expressed interest in expanding educational and research opportunities for students and professors.
Moreover, the rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiev invited the president and the teaching staff of Soka University to participate in the events on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fraghi, which will be held in the country in 2024, declared the year of "The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguli Fragi".The president and faculty of Soka University expressed great interest in the invitation.Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiev gave to the Japanese side a Turkmen carpet as a present, as well as video clips prepared by the students of the Institute in Japanese and English. Agreeing to establish cooperation between two sides, a meeting was held under the leadership of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov.
At the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov listened to the speech of the director of Japan Soka University, who made such offers as opening a branch of Soka University at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, development and implementation of the program of exchange of students and teachers,also made suggestions to create opportunities for Turkmen students to study in Japan.
Based on the results of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Soka University of Japan.
