Turkmen-Tajik relations
On May 8, the Turkmen-Tajik business conference, the first meeting of the business council and a joint exhibition of export goods of the two countries were held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
To be sure, the Turkmen delegation, consisting of heads of various ministries, departments, administration, science and business structures of the country, visited Dushanbe. According to the work plan, the activities first started with getting acquainted with the exhibition of Tajikistan's export goods, which was organized in the building of the National Library of Tajikistan.
Then, a Turkmen-Tajik business conference was held in the large conference hall of the National Library.
According to the results of the business conference, more than 20 documents on cooperation between the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and several state enterprises and private entities of the Republic of Tajikistan were signed.
In parallel with these events, the first meeting of the Turkmen-Tajik business council was held in the small conference hall of the National Library of the Republic of Tajikistan. It was attended by representatives of trade and industry organizations of the two countries and other relevant bodies.
Also, an international consultation was held in Dushanbe at the head of the "round table" entitled "Development of scientific and technical cooperation between the scientific institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan". Scientists from the scientific institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, higher education institutions, relevant ministries and administrative bodies, and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan participated in its work. Important issues such as innovative educational technologies, renewable energy sources, cooperation in seismology and earthquake-resistant construction were touched upon in the speeches.
On May 10, 2023, the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda and other officials welcomed the President of Turkmenistan at Dushanbe International Airport.
Within the framework of the visit, high-level contacts will be held with the participation of the Heads of the friendly countries.
It is planned to sign bilateral documents on the results of the Turkmen-Tajik talks.
This will bring Turkmen-Tajik relations to a new and higher level.

- Agreement of understanding between the Financial Control Service under the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the Financial Control Department under the National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan on the exchange of financial information related to the legalization of proceeds of crime, the financing of terrorism and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction;
- Agreement on mutual understanding between the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and the National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- Agreement between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on organizing the exchange of preliminary information regarding goods and means of transport crossing the border;
- Agreement between the Mary Velayat Governorate of Turkmenistan and the Executive Office of the State Power of Khatlon Region of the Republic of Tajikistan on the implementation of international and foreign economic relations in trade-economic, scientific-technical, social, cultural and humanitarian fields;
- Agreement on cooperation in trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian fields between the governorate of the Balkan Velayat of Turkmenistan and the state executive office of the Sughd region of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- Plan of joint actions for 2023-2025 (Roadmap) between the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan to further expand cooperation in the field of activating multimodal transport and increasing cargo turnover;
- Agreement of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and Construction Production of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- Agreement on mutual understanding on trade cooperation between the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- Agreement of understanding between the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan on cooperation in the field of labor and employment of the population;
- Agreement on mutual understanding between the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan "Turkmenavtoulaglary" and the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan on the development of international road transport;
- Agreement on mutual understanding between the State Committee on Statistics of Turkmenistan and the Agency for Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- Agreement on mutual understanding between the main state service "Turkmenstandartary" and the state service for monitoring the safe conduct of work in the industry under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and mountain control;
- There is a Agreement of Understanding between the Scientific Center for Strategic Studies of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
- Agreement on cooperation between the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- Agreement between the State News Agency of Turkmenistan and the National News Agency "Hovar" under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- Agreement on interaction and cooperation between the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan and the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan;
On Dushanbe, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, together with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, participated in the laying of the foundation stone of the Magtymguly secondary school in the Ergesh Sultanov Farmer's Association of the Dusti Etrap of the Hatlon region of the friendly country through live video communication.
The construction of this secondary education center, which includes modern technologies, computer equipment, a library, a canteen, sports fields and other facilities, will be carried out as a humanitarian aid to the fraternal Tajik people, based on the friendly-fraternal and good-neighborly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan. The fact that a group of representatives of science, education, culture and society of Turkmenistan are in Dusti etrap today to participate in the ceremony to start the construction of the school is also a symbol of the friendship of the two peoples.
Currently, about 25 thousand Turkmen live in Tajikistan. There are 5 schools taught in the Turkmen language in this country. The establishment of a school named after Magtymguly within the Dusti etrap, where Turkmens live together, is a very important step in bringing the fraternal peoples closer to each other, and in perpetuating the honorable name of a wise poet in a friendly country.
The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, laid flowers at the monument of Ismoil Somoni, the national hero of the Tajik people.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov was greeted by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda and other officials when he arrived at the memorial complex located in the "Dusti" square. Serdar Berdimuhamedov laid a wreath at the monument that immortalized the image of Ismoil Somoni, and remembered the character of an outstanding statesman and ruler - the founder of Samany state.
