A TRAINING SESSION ON CENTRAL ASIAN WATER DIPLOMACY WAS HELD
On June 3, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a seminar on water diplomacy titled “Cooperation of Central Asian States on Water and Environmental Issues”. The event, organized under the "Water Diplomacy" track of the Training Center for Key Areas of Turkmenistan's Diplomacy, was dedicated to the upcoming World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5.
The lecture was delivered by Aydzhan Omarova, a lecturer at the Department of International Law and Comparative Law Studies at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During the session, key aspects of regional cooperation were examined in detail, including: geographical features, distribution balance, and rational use of water resources in Central Asia; the international cooperation of Turkmenistan in the field of water diplomacy, as one of the countries actively promoting environmental and water diplomacy in the region; water as a vital resource for sustaining human life; global issues of sustainable development; the primary tasks carried out by international organizations regarding water management issues.
The lecture concluded with an engaging Q&A session, during which the students exchanged views with the lecturer and received comprehensive answers to their questions.
