Water as the key to sustainable development
In the Prosperous Epoch of the Powerful State, under the leadership of our esteemed President, special attention is paid to the improvement of the scientific base and quality of higher education in our country. All conditions have been created for this. In order to study the diplomacy of our country, on December 20, 2018, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on the establishment of the Training Center for the Priority Areas of Diplomacy of Turkmenistan based at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The formation of a new content and active diplomacy of Turkmenistan that meets the high requirements of modern international relations and its crucial role in the creation of a comprehensive international legal framework for energy, transport and water cooperation at the United Nations level is crucial.
In accordance with the approved plan, lectures and seminars are held on relevant topics. Using PowerPoint presentations, video and audio records make classed more interactive. According to the approved plan, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Mejlis of the National Council of Turkmenistan, the representative of the Committee on Water Management of Turkmenistan of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A.Niyazov will deliver the lectures of this round. Lecturers from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan also organize lectures and seminars.
On November 24, 2021, Italmaz Saparliyev, Professor at the Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University, gave a lecture on the issues of water supply in the Sustainable Development Goals” at the Training Center for Water Diplomacy, an important area of Turkmenistan’s diplomacy. Graduate students majoring in digital diplomacy, international public law and international private law enrolled for the 2021-2022 academic year attended the lecture.
The question-and-answer session helped to make today’s class even more interesting for graduate students who conduct research on the international legal issues of ecology, water management.
Water, peace and security issues, the topic items on the international agenda, were discussed during the lecture. The Resolution of the UN General Assembly “International Decade for Action on Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” also calls on the world community to address urgent issues such as water scarcity and water management through efficient and economical use of water resources. In this regard, the domestic and foreign policies pursued by the President and the specialized international organizations in the water sector were discussed during the course.
No doubt, the organization of such lectures in higher educational institutions greatly contributes to the training of highly qualified international professionals and their productive work.
