Role of Water Diplomacy in International Relations
Ensuring peace, stability and development in the modern world largely depends on the competent solution of water management problems. Hero Arkadag noted that water is a sacred source of life and abundance for all peoples of the world. Turkmenistan considers water diplomacy as the main goal of coordinating international efforts to create a global and regional system based on fair and multilateral interests in the use of water and equal access to water resources for all states.
The main task of the Educational Center for the Priority Areas of Diplomacy of Turkmenistan is an in-depth study of the friendly, peaceful foreign policy of the President of Turkmenistan, as well as initiatives aimed at effective international cooperation in the field of energy, transport and water diplomacy, and their practical implementation in the international law.
The special research of young students carried out within the framework of the Educational Center is aimed at solving these important tasks. Within the framework of the program, the educational activities of the Center are carried out in the form of special and elective courses for students.
One of the main tasks of Turkmenistan’s water diplomacy is to promote the development of a comprehensive UN program document on water policy at the UN level – the UN Water Strategy. In this regard, a new stage of training has started in the Center. According to the approved Plan of the Educational Center for a new stage, lectures and practical classes are held for students from all faculties of the Institute.
Today, at the Educational Center for the Priority Areas of Diplomacy of Turkmenistan of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, a training was held on the topic “Role and importance of water diplomacy in International relations” by a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During the training, the students of the Faculty of International Law of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan A.Esedov and T.Khoshanova made specially prepared reports on the main issues of water diplomacy, as well as on domestic and foreign policies pursued by our esteemed President in this area.
