Course on Water Diplomacy
On October 17 ,2022 , a regular course on water diplomacy was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, it was organized by the Educational center for Priority Areas of Diplomacy of Turkmenistan. The workshop was conducted by Uzukjemal Pashshieva, an expert in the Department of Environmental Protection and Environmental Analysis of the Environmental Protection Service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan. The training course was held on the theme “Water diplomacy of Turkmenistan: sustainable development and the Aral Sea. At present, solving the problems of the Aral Sea is a great importance in improving the ecological, aquatic and socio-economic conditions in the region, as well as in ensuring sustainable development. In this regard, on December 11, 2018, Resolution No. A/RES/61/133 was adopted on granting the UN General Assembly observer status to the International Organization for the Rescue of the Aral Sea. In addition, on April 12, 2018, Resolution No. A/NES/72/273 on cooperation between the UN and the International Fund for Island Rescue was adopted.
