Course on Water Diplomacy
On November 10, 2022, a regular course on water diplomacy was held at the Center for the Priority Areas of Diplomacy of Turkmenistan, established at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The experts who will implement the international initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan on water diplomacy directly in their respective sectors are trained in this field. A deputy of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan. a member of the Committee on Legislation Jeren Yegenova conducted the course. During the lecture, the important role of water diplomacy in international relations and the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) were widely discussed. As you know energy, transport, and water issues, which contribute to sustainable development, are among the main areas in the “Foreign policy concept of neutral Turkmenistan for 2022-2028”. Important measures taken by Turkmenistan in the field of water security and the support they receive by the international community were discussed during the course.
The main areas of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy and diplomacy are aimed at actively contributing to joint international efforts to solve urgent problems at the regional and global levels in modern conditions.
