ONLINE COURSE ON WATER DIPLOMACY
Ensuring peace, stability and development in the modern world largely depends on the thoughtful solution of issues related to water resources. As the President of Turkmenistan noted, water is a sacred source of life and abundance for all peoples of the world. It is extremely important to unite the efforts of the countries of the world in solving water management problems, to develop long-term strategies for the systematic use of water.
Water diplomacy focuses on establishing novel solutions founded on a scientific basis and sensitive to societal constraints to a wide range of water problems.
This year on October 3-4, the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia held a series of online courses on water diplomacy and international water law for the students and teaching staff of the higher educational institutions of the country.
The international expert of the project, Dr. Ana Elisa Cascao, the team of the regional project on water resources and the environment, as well as the students and the teaching staff of higher educational institutions of the country participated in the online course.
The aim of this online course is to familiarize participants with the elements of transboundary water management and to facilitate water cooperation, security and diplomacy.
