CONTEST ON THE OCCASION OF THE UN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE DAY
On June 6, 2022, a contest on the occasion of the UN Russian Language Day was organized by the Lingvo World Club of the Department of World Languages of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The UN Russian Language Day is observed annually on June 6. The event was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2010. It is known that Russian is one of six UN’s official working languages. The UN Russian Language Day also coincides with the birthday of Alexander Pushkin, a Russian poet who is considered the father of modern Russian language.
During the contest, students of the Institute had to answer questions on Russian grammar, vocabulary and Russian literature. Moreover, students cited poems in Russian by Alexandr Pushkin and other Russian poets, which made a great impression on the jury members. Holding such events is aimed to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity and to develop the languages skills of students.
