Engaging in Biodiversity Initiatives with the UNDP
On May 23, 2024, in commemoration of International Biodiversity Day, UNDP, in partnership with the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, hosted an engaging event for students.
Specialists from the UNDP project "Conservation and Sustainable Management of Land Resources and High-Value Ecosystems in the Aral Sea Basin for Multiple Benefits" delivered an informative presentation on the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and the principles of the ecosystem approach in sustainable management. They emphasized crucial initiatives of the Aral Sea Project aimed at preserving ecosystems and biodiversity in the Prearalie regions of Turkmenistan.
This event was part of the educational session series, initiated by UNDP in Turkmenistan in collaboration with the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The primary objective of this initiative is to actively, engage students in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The event culminated in a knowledge assessment, where students demonstrated their comprehension of the discussed topics through a quiz. Correct responses were rewarded with prizes.
