AN ONLINE SEMINAR WAS HELD
On April 24, 2025, an online seminar was held at the Institute of International
Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in honor of the
declaration of “Year 2025 - International Year of Peace and Trust” and the celebration
of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent Neutrality. This seminar was the
part of a project involving mutual diplomatic online lectures between partner
institutions: the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of Turkmenistan and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
the Kyrgyz Republic named after Kazy Dikambaev.
The lecture was delivered by Zaynidin Kurmanov, Doctor of Historical
Sciences, Professor, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research at the Diplomatic Academy
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic named after Kazy
Dikambaev. His lecture was titled “Formation of the Central Asian Region and its
Root: Past and Present”.
Professors and students of the Institute of International Relations of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan attended the seminar. During his speech
the lecturer explained that Central Asia, situated at the crossroads of civilizations, has
undergone a long and complex process of formation. This rich historical experience
has largely shaped contemporary relations between the nations of the region, where
mutual respect, support are important features of regional policy and interpersonal
relations. This manifests itself in various forms of cooperation - from economic
projects to cultural exchanges. This commitment to good neighborliness serves as an
important factor for stability and an example of peaceful coexistence.
The online seminar provided students with the opportunity not only to
familiarize themselves with the history of the countries of Central Asia over the past
decades but also contributed to the development of analytical thinking and a critical
approach to the study of world history.
