International Mandela Day
Mandela Day is an annual international celebration that takes place on July 18 to honor the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. Mandela Day was created to inspire people to embrace the values of democracy and ensure the ideals of freedom, peace and justice.
In November 2009, the United Nations General Assembly formally declared July 18 as " Nelson Mandela International Day" in recognition of his life's contributions towards peace and freedom.
Mandela Day is a global call to action for individuals, communities and organizations to have the power to transform the world and the ability to make a fruitful impact on their own societies.
Nelson Mandela is remembered as a man of extraordinary courage, tremendous generosity and remarkable vision for his tireless effort against oppression. Nowadays Mandela's legacy teaches everyone to choose dignity over humiliation, to speak up during injustice and forgive rather than take revenge.
