MAGTYMGULY PRAGY – A FIGURE OF PUBLIC DIPLOMACY
On October 10, 2024, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen classical poet, great thinker and humanist Magtymguly Pyragy. Professors, lecturers and students of the National School of Turkmen Diplomacy took an active part in this meeting.
During the meeting, foreign guests prof. Olivier Arifon from the Diplomatic World Institute (Belgium), Derya Sosyal, a researcher on the history of Turkic state, made speeches on approaches to public diplomacy and its efforts to build strong relations with the global community.
Speakers emphasized the importance of public diplomacy in strengthening its efforts in the global community, as well as the significance of “ soft power”. It is known that soft power plays a crucial role in public diplomacy and influences culture, political values and foreign policies.
