Meeting of the President of India with the Faculty and Students of the Institute of International Relations of the MFAT
On 3 April 2022, the high-level delegation from the Republic of India headed by the President of India His Excellency Ram Nath Kovind had a meeting with the faculty and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan J.Gurbangeldiyev made an introductory speech where he briefly introduced the high level delegation about the Institute and noted about important areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and India, including the sphere of education. Then, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Turkmenistan Vidhu Peethambaran Nairi delivered to the Institute the postage stamp, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and India. One of the intangible culture heritages of each country was selected to be depicted on the stamp. From India, it is Sankirtana, which is a ritual singing, drumming, and dancing from the State of Manipur. From Turkmenistan, it is Kushdepdi rite of singing and dancing.
During the meeting, the President of India made a speech on important issues of world politics, the foreign policy of India, the cooperation of India with the Central Asian countries and key areas of Turkmen-Indian relations. It is no doubt that the speech by His Excellency Ram Nath Kovind will be a valuable resource for the faculty and students of the Institute in the study of Indian domestic and foreign policies, India’s visions and positions in important international issues and productive cooperation with Turkmenistan.
In addition, the President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan J.Gurbangeldiyev attended the opening ceremony of the “Corner of India” established at the Institute on this wonderful occasion. The opening of the “Corner of India” at the Institute will allow the lectures and students to get acquainted with the Indian culture, science, education, traditions of the friendly country.
The meeting of the President of India with the faculty and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan within the framework of his state visit to Turkmenistan became a landmark event in the history of the Institute.
